Less is more for Spezza

Thursday, June 3, 2010 ·

At this point. Jason Spezza has decided less in more. While attending an event in Toronto today, Spezza was asked about his "situation" during a media scrum. He basically reiterated what he told CTVOttawa last Friday night. When the media pushed for clarity some NHLPA staffers stepped in to make sure the questions were only about the event. Afterwards, Spezza backed out of some 1 on 1's that he had committed to. Read into that what you will.

Ah, so he's the same off the ice as he is on the ice...

I have to say, if the ignorant fans in Ottawa manage to boo another star player off our team I may have to become a fan of some other team. Shame on all of you! The sens win as a team and lose as a team. Besides, if spezza leaves because of fan bad behaviour, who is going to center the top line? Mike fisher ? Ha! Trade fisher before spezza sowe can get a second line center with some hockey skill, not just a hard skating should-be-third liner.

Sorry SensFanNepean but Spezza has some ingrained bad habits that FIVE coaches (Martin, Murray, Paddock, Hartsburg, Clouston) have been unable to change.

Your team is only as strong as its weakest link and that's Spezza. When he constantly gives up on plays, when he does lazy poke-checks on opposing players instead of taking the body, when he lethargically skates back to the bench or the defensive zone, he hurts the team more than any lack of production might.

He'll soon be in his 8th season here and he hasn't progressed. That's an issue that can only be resolves by Spezza.

Does he want to win a Cup or not? If he really does, he'll become a two-way player. As is, the team is paying 7 million cap hit for Pierre Turgeon...
